If you plan to take a cruise, make sure to book ahead, as they fill up quickly. The Dolly Steamboat Dinner Cruise was the highlight of my vacation. It was a way that I could experience Arizona and all of its beauty while spending quality time with my brother. The music was relaxing, and the crew was friendly and welcoming. On a trip to Phoenix to visit my brother, we enjoyed an evening on the Dolly Steamboat for their Twilight Dinner Cruise.

I love that we’re able to walk about the steamboat and take in the views from both lower and upper decks. Being surrounded by mountains while out on the lake makes for beautiful views that will never got old. Having drinks and snacks available is nice plus the crew is always enthusiastic and kind which makes the overall experience that much better. All this and more is part of a day on the Dolly Steamboat, a paddle wheel-style boat that offers short cruises on Arizona’s Canyon Lake. It’s one of the easiest ways for visitors to get out on the water and see this beautiful desert lake. A fun and hassle-free way to get out on the water is to board one of the Dolly Steamboat cruises.

Today the much larger Dolly Steamboat offers regularly scheduled cruises, including the 1 ½ scenic cruise I took. There are also a couple of 2 ½ hour dinner cruises and seasonal specialty cruises, like the 3 hour big horn sheep viewing cruise that is being offered this spring. Cruises are take place throughout the year, rain or shine.
However, Arizona has over 100 lakes (almost all are reservoirs created by damming various rivers). Many of these lakes offer various recreational activities. Sometimes it may seem we’re sending you on outdoor adventures that involve some strenuous activity that may require some experience, or at the very least, endurance. And while hiking, for example, is a great way to see our beautiful state, there are alternative adventures that accomplish the same without so much rigorous input.
